12. Jack Jones

  • Location/High School: Long Beach, CA./Long Beach Poly
  • 247Sports Composite Rank: No. 28
  • 247Sports Position Rank: No. 4 CB

Jones is one of the most prominent corners in the country and as a result, two in-state programs are vying for his services. USC and UCLA are the two programs that have an inside shot as Jones, and all indications have him joining an upstart USC program, whose ’16 class is filled with playmakers on both sides of the football.

A four-star prospect, Jones would be a significant addition to a very talented ’16 class and the first cornerback of the group. He would be the 10th four-star prospect of the class, and give the Trojans another weapon on defense. He has tremendous speed and uses it to close in on his man. He would help out USC immensely, especially in the Pac-12, where running quarterbacks and wide-open offenses are a common thread. A coverage corner like him would eliminate the dual-threat potential.

With the way things have gone for the Trojans on the recruiting trail, I do not see them losing out on Jones. A big in-state pickup like this one would do wonders for their program, and with the talent they have amassed for the entire 2016 class, I see them continuing their upward trajectory.

Prediction: USC
