Former Arizona Wildcats commit Devon Modster is now committed to play for the UCLA Bruins.

Devon Modster (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA. Tesoro) committed to UCLA on Monday as Jim Mora gets a quarterback to develop behind last year’s top quarterback recruit Josh Rosen.

The 6-2, 215-pound four-star quarterback originally committed to play for Rich Rodriguez and the Arizona Wildcats in April but backed off his pledge on New Year’s Eve. When the recruiting dead period was over, Modster took an official visit to UCLA on Jan. 15 and after taking the weekend to explore all that UCLA has to offer him, he made it official on Monday.

He is the nation’s No. 334 overall recruit, No. 13 pro-style quarterback, and the No. 46 recruit in the state of California, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. With Rosen on campus for two more seasons before likely declaring early for the NFL Draft after his junior year, Modster can come to UCLA and redshirt as a freshman, compete for the backup job to Rosen in 2017 and compete for the starting job in 2018.

"After a long talk with my family members,I am blessed to announce That I'm going to be a Bruin!"

This is an ideal fit for Modster who will have the time to mature physically and mentally at UCLA instead of being forced to play before he was ready and risk stunting his development. With UCLA’s track record of developing Brett Hundley and Rosen a Freshman All-American, Modster hopes to continue the legacy of quality quarterbacks to play for the Bruins.

UCLA has 17 commitments for the 2016 class that ranks No. 17 in the nation and No. 3 in the Pac-12.
