  • Notable: Returning to school as No. 3 inside linebacker prospect in the 2017 NFL Draft, according to NFLDraftScout.com.

LSU linebacker Kendell Beckwith passed up a chance to enter the 2016 NFL Draft and will be back in Baton Rouge as one of nine defensive starters returning from a unit that allowed 347.2 total yards of offense per game last season – and one of 18 starters overall that are expected to return in 2016.

Beckwith’s return is especially big because he will anchor the linebacker corps for the Tigers and new defensive coordinator Dave Aranda, who left Wisconsin for LSU in January. Aranda prefers a 3-4 base defense, and Beckwith is the only full-time returning starter at the position in 2016.

As a junior, Beckwith finished second on the team with 84 tackles and also contributed ten tackles for a loss, 3.5 sacks, one pass breakup and two forced fumbles.
