NFL Draft 2016: 10 players at Senior Bowl with most to gain
Jordan Jenkins looks the part of a first round pick at 6-3, 253 pounds, but he didn’t play like one during his time with the Georgia Bulldogs. Jenkins once like the heir apparent to former SEC Defensive Player of the Year Jarvis Jones when he had five sacks and eight tackles for loss as a situational pass rusher as a freshman in 2012, but his next three years failed to produce the breakout season many anticipated. He had 12 tackles for loss and five sacks as a sophomore, dropped down to 9.5 TFL’s and five sacks as a junior and 10.5 TFL’s and a career-low four sacks as a senior.
He left many wanting more from him and while he was a consistent performer there wasn’t the eye-popping production, so with time no longer on his side, can Jenkins make up for lost time with a flashy week at the Senior Bowl?
Jenkins has to show he can cause disruptions behind the line of scrimmage and read and react to make plays in space — which he’s capable of doing — but most importantly, he’ll need to show he can make plays in space.
