Players from the SEC stole the show in the 2016 Senior Bowl. Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott helped propel the South team to victory.

From the heart of SEC country, Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott had a proper send off to the NFL. Prescott ignited the South team to a 27-16 victory and was the MVP of the 2016 Senior Bowl.

Prescott was 7-of-10 for 61 yards and one touchdown. He also showed the ability to use his legs when necessary and jump-started a stagnant offense.

“I was just playing the game of football. That’s what I love to do most and just got in a rhythm there. We started going fast and it felt like college at the end of the two-minute, no huddle offense. I was able to get a touchdown,” Prescott said after the game referring to his touchdown drive.

Prescott was not the only SEC quarterback that looked impressive. Arkansas quarterback Brandon Allen was 7-of-10 for 106 yards. He showed command of the offense and was able to move the South team down the field.

Both teams had four quarterbacks and playing time was limited for each player. North Dakota State’s Carson Wentz showed his potential on some throws and cause for concern when he fumbled the ball in the first quarter.

Baylor defensive end Shawn Oakman had a great game and was able to get the strip sack against Wentz. Both team’s defensive lines looked impressive and showed that the 2016 NFL Draft will be filled with great defensive players.

The Senior Bowl closed the book on the 2015 college football season and unofficially kicked the NFL Draft season into high gear. The NFL Combine is the next step for these prospects and will begin in Indianapolis on February 23.
