Pat Narduzzi and the Pitt football coaches celebrated in a big way after picking up a couple of wins on the recruiting trail.

Two days before National Signing Day and Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi picked up two significant commitments on Monday night in three-star Aaron Matthews who flipped from Penn State and later the commitment from four-star cornerback Damar Hamlin.

The commitments came in a flurry for the Panthers with the flipping of Matthews, a 6-5, 190-pound athlete who could be a safety, outside linebacker or defensive end depending on how big he gets. The move comes nearly one month to the day he committed to Penn State on Jan. 2. The news was so good that you can’t blame the reaction coming out of the Pitt football complex.

"Reaction from the PITT Football Complex!!"

Pitt wasn’t done there as they added the 6-1, 175-pound local recruit in Hamlin (Pittsburgh, PA. Central Catholic) who picked the Panthers over Ohio State and Penn State. He is the nation’s No. 148 overall recruit, No. 14 cornerback and the No. 3 recruit in the state of Pennsylvania, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Hamlin is the highest-ranked commit on the board for Narduzzi with Matthews the No. 4 player on the board that is the No. 5 class in the ACC and No. 34 nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

We’ll see if there are more celebrations coming from the Pitt football coaches during National Signing Day. There’s always the chance they could pull off another flip or add a blue-chip uncommitted recruit to help Narduzzi makeover the roster and lead the Panthers to an ACC championship.
