The 2016 National Signing Day had a similar feel as the previous four recruiting cycles as the Alabama Crimson Tide won a recruiting title for the fifth year in a row.

Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide have the No. 1 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Team Rankings after a flurry of activity on National Signing Day.

The Crimson Tide were nearly outside the top 10 when the week began but with several of their top targets uncommitted on National Signing Day, Alabama fans just had to be a little patient when it came time to seeing who would be a part of the next Alabama class.

Credit the Florida State Seminoles, Ole Miss Rebels, USC Trojans and Texas Longhorns for having outstanding days on National Signing Day, but the recommitment of Shyheim Carter and commitments from Jared Mayden, Joshua Jacobs, Terrell Hall and five-star linebackers Mack Wilson and Ben Davis gave Alabama the best day of them all.

Alabama had 24 members of their recruiting class, including three five-star recruits and 14 four-star recruits. Their average ranking of 92.85 was more than a full point higher than runner-up Florida State’s so they win with quantity and quality.

The LSU Tigers began the day with the No. 1 recruiting class ranking but dropped to the No. 3 class despite the addition of five-star cornerback Kristian Fulton on the day. It may be the best recruiting class LSU and Les Miles have ever had, but he still finds himself looking up to Alabama. The games between these two dominant SEC West teams should continue to be heated over the next three-five years.

Rounding out the top five recruiting classes are the Ohio State Buckeyes and Michigan Wolverines who added the nation’s No. 1 recruit in Rashan Gary. The rivalry between Urban Meyer and Jim Harbaugh is heating up just as we all hoped it would and a 10-year war redux could be forthcoming.
