National Signing Day 2016: Nate Craig-Myers commits to Auburn Football

The Auburn football recruiting class received a huge boost on National Signing Day when four-star wide receiver Nate Craig-Myers committed to the Tigers.

Auburn’s offense got faster on National Signing Day with the addition wide receiver Nate Craig-Myers, a top 50 national recruit.

Craig-Myers spent most of the recruiting cycle as the No. 1 ranked wide receiver in the class with five-star distinction. During most of that period, Craig-Myers was also committed to Auburn until he reopened his recruitment in May 2015. After considering home-state programs Florida State and Florida, among others, he pared his choices to two and picked Auburn over North Carolina.

A 6-foot-2, 205-pound Tampa native, Craig-Myers is a four-star recruit ranked No. 43 overall in the 247Sports Composite and an Under Armour All-American. The fifth-ranked player from the Sunshine State, Craig-Myers was ranked sixth nationally among wide receivers. He caught 63 passes for 1,018 yards, more than 1,400 total yards of offense, and 16 touchdowns as a senior at Tampa Catholic High School. Craig-Myers also intercepted six passes on defense.

With leading receivers Ricardo Louis and Melvin Ray graduation, and only one player returning that started made six or more starts at wide receiver, the position is an area of need for Auburn. Therefore, it’s possible that Craig-Myers will see the field early as a true freshman.

Craig-Myers’ commitment continues Auburn’s strong finish to National Signing Day 2016. The Tigers added four-star offensive lineman Prince Sammons early in the day and are still in the mix for several other uncommitted prospects, including Craig-Myers’ half-brother Jayvaughn Myers, who was also considering Auburn and North Carolina.

Currently, the 2016 Auburn recruiting class ranks No. 13 nationally and No. 6 in the SEC.
