Texas Football: Longhorns announce 2016 recruiting class
By Dustin Hull
Who did Charlie Strong add to the Texas football roster with his 2016 recruiting class?
If you were to tell Charlie Strong and the Texas Longhorns before the 2015 season that they’d defeat Oklahoma and Baylor, they would’ve gladly taken that kind of year.

Unfortunately, the Longhorns had only three wins besides those two rivalry victories, and now head coach Charlie Strong is on the hot seat to deliver in 2016. And that all starts on National Signing Day. And will it ever be a crucial one for the Longhorns.
Texas entered National Signing Day with the nation’s No. 24 class and fourth overall in the Big 12, according to the 247Sports Team Rankings. But the low ranking was a bit deceiving as several of the team’s top targets were waiting until National Signing Day to make their announcements.
Four-star running back, Kyle Porter committed the day before signing day to get some momentum going for the class that absolutely cleaned up on signing day. Jeffrey McCulloch, Marcel Southall, Brandon Jones, Erick Fowler and Jordan Elliott all signed with Texas to spur them on the brink of a top-10 class.
The class is headlined by phenomenal duel-threat QB Shane Buechele. The No. 4 dual-threat quarterback and Buechele could make a serious run at the starting job next year if Jerrod Heard’s decision-making doesn’t improve.

Protecting Buechele in the future will be a pair of 4-star recruits, tackle Jean Delance and guard Denzel Okafor, and the class also features a potential star at wide receiver in early enrollee Collin Johnson. Texas fans are hopeful this class can continue to rebrand and rebuild the program that has lost 14 games in Strong’s first two seasons in Austin.
Who do you think will end up being the best player in the Texas recruiting class in four years and will this class ever win a Big 12 title?
