Notre Dame Football: 2016 Recruiting Awards
By Bobby Norell
Biggest Sleeper of the Class
Recipient: Devin Studstill, Defensive Back, Palm Beach Gardens, FL
He may not be a sleeper to the Notre Dame staff, but he is a sleeper to the rest of the country. Studstill was rated only a three-star recruit by most services, but he could turn into one of the best of the 2016 class. Like Hayes, Studstill is an early enrollee and will have his chance to impress the coaches before any of the other incoming DBs.
After watching much Notre Dame’s signing day coverage, the only thing the Irish coaches could do was gush about this kid. In fact, Todd Lyght, Notre Dame’s DB coach, said he thinks Studstill will play and he’ll play early. That could be the case with ND’s defensive backfield being wide open at the moment. Studstill has a ton of versatility, as he can play either cornerback or safety. Don’t be surprised if this is one of those lower rated guys Brian Kelly turns into a star.
