10 Top college football teams who should start looking to 2017
Navy Midshipmen
2015 Finish: 11-2, 2nd in AAC West
Key 2016 Losses: QB/RB Keenan Reynolds, FB Chris Swain
While 2015 was a magical season for the Midshipmen, it can’t be denied that practically all of that magic came via the legs and arm of Kennan Reynolds.
While Reynolds must now move on to serve his country in the Navy for a few years, the gang back at Annapolis will be scrambling to figure out how to replace his 1,420 yards rushing and receiving, 1,203 yards passing, and 32 total touchdowns from 2015.
Navy’s second year in the American Athletic Conference may be a bit tougher than the first, as several teams in the conference (and on their schedule) will have improved. It feels almost sacrilegious to predict a downturn for one of the service academies, but it’s doubtful that Navy finishes near the top of the conference again this year. However, they are now solidly part of a conference and will reap some recruiting benefits from that fact.
