Keenan Reynolds gets number retired by Navy
Keenan Reynolds is having his jersey retired just two months after Navy finished its historical 2015 season.
Navy may need some time to move on without Keenan Reynolds. The quarterback is only the fourth player in Navy history to receive the privilege of having his number retired, but Navy didn’t have second guesses about retiring number 19.
Reynolds lit up the record books in multiple categories, including Naval Academy feats in wins against Army with four, total career wins with 32, and success in multiple areas of the passing game. He also broke the FBS career rushing touchdown record with 88.
Besides his on the field success, Reynolds is arguably one of the most respected athletes to play the sport. At the recognition ceremony, Reynolds also received other awards from the team and academy.
Now that Navy is two months past its most winning season in school history and has given its all in appreciation for Reynolds, can the program move its focus into the future without its star?
Navy lost a lot of talent on both sides of the ball and will have one of the biggest rebuilding projects in the country next season. Can head coach Ken Niumatalolo keep Navy from missing out on a bowl game after having unprecedented success at Navy?

A big part of Navy’s success can be attributed to Niumatalolo, who has put together a strong and consistent program from year to year. While replacing Reynolds and other key contributors will be no easy task, I think Niumatalolo will motivate his team to at least make a bowl game, despite the humongous challenges he faces.
