NFL Combine: Biggest winners, losers and questions left unanswered
Quarterbacks
Carson Wentz and Jared Goff came to the NFL Combine as the consensus top two quarterbacks in the 2016 NFL Draft, but Wentz leaves Indy as the top quarterback. Wentz ran a 4.77 in the 40 compared to 4.82 from Goff and equipped himself better in the throwing part of the workout.
I don’t think either are future All-Pro types at the position or perennial Pro Bowlers, but I think both can be good-above average in the NFL who you can build a team around.
Paxton Lynch is the third quarterback, but I don’t think there’s much of a difference between the Memphis quarterback and Michigan State’s Connor Cook. The Spartans signal-caller had to address questions about his character and what kind of teammate he is, but I think that’s largely overblown because every teammate that’s been questioned about him has given him a glowing endorsement.
Cardale Jones and Christian Hackenberg had a chance to show off their physical abilities but Jones hurt himself in his 40 and Hackenberg was up and down in the throwing part to leave scouts scratching their heads.
Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott could be the most underrated player at the position.
