Will Boston College show signs of life?

Boston College went winless in the ACC last year and 3-9 overall. The Eagles had the No. 4 scoring defense in the nation last year but Steve Addazio still couldn’t find a way to win a single league game. That’s because the offense was the worst in the ACC, scoring three fewer points than Wake Forest and an average of 9.1 points in ACC games.

Injuries to quarterback Darius Wade and running back Jon Hilliman were primary reasons for the offensive ineptitude, but new offensive coordinator Scott Loeffler has to find a way to generate some points.

Kentucky transfer Patrick Towles could unseat Wade for the starting job and Hilliman is a capable back when healthy. However, the Eagles need to find some playmakers on the perimeter this spring or it won’t make much of a difference as they look to get back to a bowl game.

The defense, as great as it was last year, figures to regress this year without coordinator Don Brown taking the same job at Michigan.
