Big 12 Football Spring Preview: Biggest question for each team
Does Texas have a QB?
There will be plenty of chatter about the job security of Charlie Strong after two losing seasons to begin his tenure in Austin, but if he wants to put a stop to that he has to find a quarterback to lead the renaissance of the Texas Longhorns.
Sterlin Gilbert comes from Tulsa to be the new offensive coordinator and will install an offense like the one run by Baylor but does Texas have the personnel at quarterback to run that type of offense?
Jerrod Heard and Tyrone Swoopes have had their opportunities and not make the most of them so perhaps Kai Locksley or true freshman Shane Buechele gets a chance to win the job.
Buechele was the No. 4 dual-threat quarterback recruit, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings but you have to be careful about throwing a true freshman quarterback to the wolves.
If Heard, Swoopes and Locksley struggle, Strong may have no choice to turn to the future in order for him to have one at Texas.
