Can Oregon State win a conference game?
Gary Anderson was inheriting an extremely young team when he took over at Oregon State. Playing a lot of guys without Pac-12 experience ultimately caused the Beavers to go into a rebuilding mode, which left the black and orange without a Pac-12 win in 2015.
With a dynamic athlete like Seth Collins at quarterback, Oregon State seemed to have a promising future ahead of them. He was battling some injuries towards the end of the season then started getting some looks at wide receiver. After the season, Collins announced that he would be transferring from the program.
So how about the quarterback who came in to replace Collins after sitting out for a month nursing his knee injury? Well, Nick Mitchell decided to transfer to Dixie State, leaving the Beavers with little to no experience at quarterback. They’ll have Darell Garretson, a Utah State transfer who will be eligible, alongside Marcus McMaryion and incoming freshman Mason Moran.
They did prove to have a stout defense throughout most of the season. The defense could keep the offense in the game, but only for so long before finally breaking. The way the Beavers look now, it looks like Colorado might be their only shot at a Pac-12 victory.
