Does Max Browne pick up where Cody Kessler left off?
Cody Kessler gave the Trojans a lot of consistency on offense throughout the past three seasons. With Kessler gone, it seems as if Max Browne will likely be his successor as a redshirt junior. He’s been sitting behind Kessler, soaking in all he can and now it’s his time to run the show.
There’s a lot of pressure on Browne, not just because he’s a quarterback at the University of Southern California, but because he came in with an extremely high bar held above his head. Ranked 11th in the nation overall out of high school and the No. 1 pro-style quarterback in the nation, this is the moment Trojan fans have waited for.
Browne has 19 career attempts to his name and less than 150 yards. He hasn’t had any meaningful reps in his career and he’ll come into the season expected to have USC in the hunt for back to back Pac-12 South titles.
He is at USC, meaning he will have a handful of playmakers sprinkled throughout the offense. But it’ll be interesting to see how he progresses in the offseason, especially when they open the season up against the reigning national champion Crimson Tide.
