Five-star recruit Dylan Moses took an unofficial visit to Texas on Saturday and came away so impressed that he named the Longhorns the leader in his recruitment.

Dylan Moses named the Texas Longhorns his new leader after taking a visit to Austin on Saturday. The news was first reported by EJ Holland of 247Sports and Dallas Morning News and later confirmed by Moses on his personal twitter account.

Moses also tweeted Texas will always be in the mix and the Longhorns are right up there with Alabama and that he’s looking forward to getting back to visiting again soon. The former LSU commit still has his hometown Tigers in the mix in a tie for third with the UCLA Bruins and the USC Trojans rounding out his updated top five.

Moses is planning to announce his college in December and enroll early to participate in spring practices to get a leg up on competing for early playing time as a true freshman. That was part of the decision for Moses to transfer out of Louisiana and to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

The 6-2, 220-pound outside linebacker/running back recruit is the nation’s No. 2 ranked player and the top player at his position and in the state of Florida, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

If Charlie Strong is able to hold the lead he has and hold off Alabama and LSU, especially, this would be a recruiting coup for the embattled head coach who is still searching for his first winning season after two losing seasons in Austin.

Strong was able to lure five-star linebacker Malik Jefferson in his 2015 class and the freshman phenom could help bring Moses to Texas to give Strong a pair of outside linebackers to bring Texas back to Big 12 prominence.

"I like this kid hope the best, honestly he deserves it ✊"

It’s a long way to go until Moses commits in December and he’ll have plenty of other visits to schedule and other coaches to meet with as he goes through the process.

LSU and Alabama will be tough to put away, but it’s a great sign for Strong, Texas and their fan base to be in this position with a recruit the caliber of Moses.

It’s a sign Strong can recruit on a national level and bring elite talents to Texas. If he can get Moses, you better believe there will be other five-star recruits following him to play alongside him at Texas.
