College Football Recruiting: 4-star QB Bailey Hockman commits to Florida State
Jimbo Fisher and the Florida State football team picked up a huge commitment on Sunday from four-star quarterback Bailey Hockman.
The Seminoles have their quarterback for the 2017 class after four-star quarterback Bailey Hockman Powder Springs, GA. McEachern) gave his verbal commitment to Jimbo Fisher and Florida State on Sunday.
Hockman is 6-2, 192-pounds and is the nation’s No. 156 ranked player overall, No. 7 pro-style quarterback and the No. 19 recruit in the state of Georgia, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
He was previously committed to the in-state Georgia Bulldogs before backing off that pledge and had offers to programs like Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, Stanford and North Carolina, among others.
Hockman is the son of a coach so he has the intangibles and work ethic that Fisher and all coaches love to see from the quarterback position. He could be a fast riser in the recruit rankings if he can bounce back from a junior season that saw him struggle at times.
Considering Fisher’s track record of developing quarterbacks, Hockman could be the next great quarterback in Florida State history. He has the ability to make the clutch throw and make plays with his feet in and out of the pocket.

He could stand to add some size to his frame, but he’ll have an entire year of high school before coming to Florida State, possibly in the winter as an early enrollee. With the commitment from Hockman, Florida State now has the nation’s No. 5 class and the No. 3 class in the ACC, according to the 247Sports Team Rankings.
