Spring game information for Dabo Swinney and his Clemson football team as they look to repeat as ACC champions and get back to the College Football Playoff.

The Clemson Tigers were a few plays short of winning their first national championship since 1981 when they lost 45-40 to the Alabama Crimson Tide in the National Championship Game, but they’ll look to get back there this season.

Davey O’Brien winner and third-place finisher in the Heisman Trophy, quarterback Deshaun Watson returns to lead the offense that should be one of the best in the country. The All-American quarterback is likely playing in his final spring game before declaring for the NFL Draft after this season, so look for him to go out on top.

Helping Watson this year will be the return of wide receiver Mike Williams who injured early in the season opener last year and will give Clemson a dangerous group of receivers, including Artavis Scott who is poised for an All-ACC campaign.

Running back Wayne Gallman also returns to the offense after being an underrated talent last year.

Swinney and defensive coordinator Brent Venables will have to rebuild the defense for the second year in a row after losing Shaq Lawson, Kevin Dodd and Mackensie Alexander to the NFL. The spring game will be a good chance for underclassmen to make an impression on the coaching staff and move up the depth chart and challenge for a starting job.

Look out for sophomore defensive tackle Christian Wilkins who is in line for a breakout season. He could be the best defensive linemen in the ACC and an All-American candidate by the end of the year. If Clemson can rebuild the defense on the fly like they did last year, this team may finish what they started last year.

The Clemson spring game is scheduled for April 9.
