When is the Florida State football spring game?

Spring game information for Jimbo Fisher and his Florida State football team as the Seminoles look to retake the ACC from the Clemson Tigers.

Last year was a bit of a disappointment for the Florida State Seminoles who lost three games, including their rivalry game with the Clemson Tigers to seize control of the ACC.

Florida State also lost a heartbreaker to Georgia Tech when they returned a field goal for a touchdown as time expired for the winning score. Finally, the Noles closed out the year by getting drubbed by the Houston Cougars in the Peach Bowl.

It would have been easy to predict a dip last year without Heisman-winning quarterback Jameis Winston no longer under center and a host of players who left the previous two seasons to the NFL. No matter how great Jimbo Fisher recruited and stocked the roster, losing that much experience and talent is tough to replace in one offseason.

This year could be different if Sean Maguire shows enough progression and confidence after finishing the season as the starting quarterback after Everett Golson lost the job. He has some talented wide receivers at his disposal, including Travis Rudolph, Ermon Lane and George Campbell to help him lead the offense.

But Maguire’s best work this season could very well be handing the ball off to running back Dalvin Cook who could run his way to New York for the Heisman ceremony in December. He could be the best running back in program history and a 2,000-yard season is well within reach.

If Florida State is going to take the ACC back from Clemson, however, it will hinge on the play of the defense, so keep an eye on the defensive line rotation and how they try to replace Jalen Ramsey in the secondary in the spring game and later this fall.

The next Florida State pass rush sensation could be Josh Sweat who could have a 10-sack season coming this year.

The Florida State spring game is scheduled for April 9.
