NFL Draft: 25 best first overall picks of all-time
By Gabe Encinas
Lee Roy Selmon did it all at the collegiate level with the Oklahoma Sooners. In 1975, he was named UPI Lineman of the Year and won the Outland Trophy and Lombardi Award. That catapulted him into the No. 1 spot in the NFL Draft, selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1976.
He only played in the league for eight seasons, but he made the most of his years and produced like no other. He racked up 742 tackles, 78.5 sacks, and 28.5 forced fumbles in his eight-year career. This led to accolades, a lot of them.
A six-time Pro Bowler and First-team All-NFC selection, three-time First-team All-Pro selection and was later selected as a member of the NFL 1980’s All-Decade team. He has also been inducted into both the College and Pro Football Hall of Fame.
