NFL Draft: 10 biggest quarterback busts of all-time
By Gabe Encinas
Taken with the No. 2 pick in the 1993 NFL Draft, the Seattle Seahawks took Rick Mirer after the Patriots went with Drew Bledsoe at No. 1.
Hoping for the quarterback of the future, Mirer went 6-10 as a rookie starter for the Seahawks. He completed 56 percent of his passes and threw for 2,833 yards, 12 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. A promising start, as he was second in Rookie of the Year voting.
He came into the 1994 season as the starter through the first 13 games, winning only five. He went on to start 13 games in the next season, winning six. But in his first three seasons with Seattle, he threw 29 touchdowns and 39 interceptions.
He was later traded with a fourth round pick for the first round pick of the Chicago Bears. He would end up playing seven games with the Bears, starting in three games. In the offseason, he demanded that he was released, picked up by the Green Bay Packers, even with Brett Favre on the roster.
He was then shipped to the New York Jets where he actually won two games in a row as a starter. Despite the wins, he was benched and bounced around the league, going to San Fransisco, Oakland and Detroit in the span of four years.
