The Ohio State Buckeyes set a record for the most players taken in the first three rounds in NFL Draft history.

Urban Meyer just produced the best draft class in NFL Draft history with nine players taken in the first three rounds to set a modern-era record.

The Buckeyes got things rolling early with Joey Bosa and Ezekiel Elliott going third and fourth overall, respectively. Cornerback Eli Apple didn’t have to wait much longer to have his name called with the New York Giants taking him with the tenth pick.

Taylor Decker and Darron Lee gave the Buckeyes a total of five picks in the top 20 with the Detroit Lions and New York Jets taking them at 16 and 20.

The second day of the draft saw the New Orleans Saints pick up a pair of Buckeyes with Michael Thomas being able to step in and fill the shoes of Marques Colston. They had him as their No. 1 receiver in the draft, so that is a huge steal. It was also a great value pick to get safety Vonn Bell on the back end.

The third round is when the record was in sight with Rex Ryan and the Buffalo Bills getting Adolphus Washington and then converted receiver Braxton Miller going to the Houston Texans to set the record.

The pick of the former All-Big Ten quarterback and Heisman candidate going to Houston set the record but they weren’t done as tight end Nick Vannett is headed to Seattle to play for Pete Carroll with Seahawks.

What made this record even cooler to watch unfold was Urban Meyer was on the NFL Network’s broadcast and seeing his reaction to his players getting drafted was surreal.

Plus, you can’t get a better scouting report from Mike Mayock or Mel Kiper that you can get from the guy who coached these guys the last three-plus years.

Look for Ohio State to add to their total with Cardale Jones, Joshua Perry, Tyvis Powell and Jalin Marshall still on the board.
