Donald Trump continues to rack up endorsements from some of the best college coaches from the state of Indiana.

Last week it was former Indiana Hoosiers legendary basketball coach Bob Knight introducing Donald Trump at a rally and this week it’s former Notre Dame football coach Lou Holtz endorsing the Republican presidential candidate.

You can also count former Purdue basketball coach Gene Keady among the endorsers from the Hoosier state for Trump in advance of the primary where he looks to put Ted Cruz further in his rear-view mirror.

Holtz released a video message with him donning a Notre Dame pullover to appeal to the folks in the state who still cherish the memories of the Fighting Irish winning the national title under Holtz in 1988.

“Greetings, I’m Lou Holtz and I wholeheartedly endorse Donald Trump as the next president of the United States. There’s nothing but winners in Indiana. The main reason I’m endorsing him: I’ve played his golf course, I’ve stayed in his hotel — he does nothing but go first class in everything. He wants this country to be first class as well.”

I always vote for the candidate with the nicest golf courses and hotels too. Who would have thought I’d have something in common with the College Football Hall of Famer?!

Politics aside, if you’re main reason for endorsing a person for president is because of the quality of golf course or hotel he has his name attached to, then that’s going to be a first in American history.

In addition to coaching at Notre Dame, Holtz also coached at Minnesota, NC State, William and Mary, South Carolina and spent one season in the NFL with the New York Jets.

Since Trump hasn’t named his running mate yet, maybe he’ll pick the former coach and broadcaster?

I mean, it’s not like you need to have experience in politics to work in politics.
