The Carolina Panthers knew they made the right pick after Newton set rookie records with 854 yards passing in his first two games (422,432) en route to winning the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year and making the Pro Bowl.

Two years later, he was back in the Pro Bowl after leading the team to a 12-4 record. Two years after that, Newton won the league MVP after a 15-1 regular season and took the team to the Super Bowl.
Newton threw for 3,837 yards and a career-high 35 touchdowns while adding 636 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground.
