College GameDay to Lambeau Field for Wisconsin-LSU in Week 1
College GameDay is headed to Lambeau Field for the first week of the 2016 college football season with the LSU Tigers taking on the Wisconsin Badgers in the home of the Green Bay Packers.
ESPN and College GameDay are headed to the home of the Green Bay Packers for the opening week of the season as Wisconsin and LSU meet in a Big Ten vs SEC showdown.
The news was confirmed by Kirk Herbstreit who said as much on the Doug Gottlieb Show on Friday.
"“Week 1 College GameDay is at Lambeau for Wisconsin-LSU,” said Herbstreit."
This will be the first time Lambeau Field has served as the host city for College GameDay and it comes for their first major college football game.

LSU athletic director Joe Alleva referred to this setting as a bucket-list type of game. Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez had an inkling GameDay would be coming for the game and considering the historic setting for the game, it makes it an easy choice to open the season.
Plus, it’ll be a great time to showcase LSU running back Leonard Fournette who has a chance to rush for more than 2,000 yards, 20 touchdowns and win the Heisman Trophy.
LSU beat Wisconsin 14-6 in the 2014 season opener at Reliant Stadium.

The Alabama Crimson Tide and USC Trojans open the season at AT&T Stadium and the Ole Miss Rebels travel to Orlando to take on the Florida State Seminoles in Camping World Stadium are two other marquee games in Week 1 that would have made fine alternative hosts for GameDay.
