Alabama Recruiting: 4-star QB Mac Jones flips from Kentucky, commits to Tide
The Alabama Crimson Tide landed 2017 quarterback Mac Jones after flipping from the Kentucky Wildcats.
While many of us are taking the summer to rest, Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide are doing anything but, as the Alabama head man continues to work his magic on the recruiting trail.
Late Tuesday, 2017 four-star quarterback Mac Jones (The Bolles School, Jacksonville, Fl.) announced he was flipping his commitment from one SEC school in Kentucky to another in Alabama. He announced the news on Twitter earlier in the day and it was reported by Hank South of 247Sports.
Jones is the No. 282 player in the class of 2017, No. 14 pro-style quarterback, and the No. 41 player in the state of Florida per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
He was recruited to the Crimson Tide by offensive guards coach Brent Key and offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Lane Kiffin.
In the beginning, the Wildcats were very involved with Jones’ recruitment as they offered him a scholarship on June 6 of last year during a school camp that same day.

He officially committed July 27, 2015, and took two unofficial visits to the campus during the season.
The Tide really began recruiting Jones this year, offering him a scholarship April 10. Then yesterday, the process came full circle as committed to Tuscaloosa.
If anything, Jones seemed excited about his commitment. “I’m excited to be with the best players,” Jones told BamaOnLine. “It’s not about me it’s about getting them the ball.”
He was part of a well-represented ‘Bama troop this past weekend at the Elite 11, making the finals along with Tua Tagovailoa, also a Crimson Tide pledge.

This commitment makes 11 now for the Alabama 2017 class, one that is sitting pretty at No. 2 nationally and tops in the SEC per the 247Sports Team Rankings. His accuracy and touch should bode well for a Crimson Tide offense that seems to teem with talent year after year.
