7. A.J. Davis

  • Lakeland, FL
  • 247Sports Composite Ranking: No. 162
  • Position Ranking: No. 11

Davis has a tremendous ability to find the open hole and run straight downfield. He doesn’t dance too much trying to evade defenders, he just focuses on finding the open lane and takes off using long strides to gain extra yardage.

So far, he has 36 offers on the docket with Florida, Florida State, Miami, UCF, and USF among the Florida schools that are vying for his services. Most recently, he received a coach visit from South Carolina’s Bobby Bentley on May 17 before being offered by UCF on June 4.

Florida seems like the most likely destination for Davis. We have seen that the Gators have focused on recruiting running backs this cycle, and much like Barrett, he could be another weapon that would put the Gators over the top due to his ability. Should the Gators lose out on Barrett, Davis would be a tremendous second option, and the similar playing styles would ensure that the Gators would be getting the running back they need.

Prediction: Florida
