Alabama offensive tackle Cam Robinson had his legal trouble cleared up after an arrest last month.

Alabama Crimson Tide offensive tackle Cam Robinson will not face any further legal trouble for his arrest last month. Robinson was arrested in his hometown of Monroe, Louisiana and charged with felony possession of stolen firearms, possession of a controlled substance and for illegally carrying a weapon in the presence of drugs.

But according to Al.com’s Michael Casagrande, Robinson and his teammate, Hootie Jones who was arrested at the same time had their charges dropped.

According to the report from Casagrande, the district attorney cited insufficient evidence to prosecute the pair of Alabama football players. I’m not a lawyer and my legal expertise is tied to my experience watching The Wire, but how is there lack of evidence if a gun and marijuana was present at the time of the arrest?

Did it just disappear? What more evidence would be necessary to move forward with prosecution?

While no court dates are scheduled in the future, if new evidence is presented, the case could re-open, however, I’d say those chances are incredibly remote. And this case for Robinson and Jones is in the past.

Alabama football head coach Nick Saban has said that he would hold comment until the legal process played out, so now that the process has played out, could he impose some sort of discipline on his two players?

Robinson has started at left tackle since his true freshman year and enters his junior year as one of the top players at his position and a potential top-10 draft pick in the 2017 NFL Draft if he declares early.

Alabama opens their season against USC, but could Robinson and/or Jones be suspended for the game against the Trojans? Considering they received zero punishment from the law, perhaps Saban will have to be the judge and jury and impose internal discipline.
