Alabama Football: Will Nick Saban suspend Cam Robinson?
Cam Robinson won’t face charges for his May arrest, but could the Alabama offensive tackle be suspended by Crimson Tide head football coach Nick Saban?
The Alabama football team received some beneficial news when Louisiana District Attorney Jerry Jones decided against pursuing charges against Crimson Tide left tackle Cam Robinson and safety Hootie Jones.
Robinson and Jones were arrested in May with a stolen firearm and marijuana, but the DA decided there wasn’t enough evidence to prosecute.
His reasoning will leave many scratching their heads after he said, “I want to emphasize once again that the main reason I’m doing this is that I refuse to ruin the lives of two young men who have spent their adolescence and teenage years, working and sweating, while we were all at home in the air conditioning.”
So now that Robinson and Jones won’t face any punishment from the law, could they be subject to punishment from Nick Saban?

Saban has previously mentioned that he would withhold comment until the legal process has played out so now that it has, the time could be coming for him to make a ruling on that and whether he will suspend Robinson and/or Jones.
It wouldn’t be unprecedented for a coach to discipline a player despite the law not moving forward with charges. And I’m sure Saban will have some form of internal discipline that he’ll impose on both these players.
However, I do not anticipate Robinson or Jones being suspended for the season opener against the USC Trojans in one of the best games of the opening week of the 2016 college football season.
Robinson is arguably the best player on the team and while Alabama can beat USC without him in the lineup, I don’t believe Saban will suspend him because he’ll deem whatever form of punishment he does levy against his players will suffice.
