Texas A&M Recruiting: 4-star QB Kellen Mond commits to Aggies
No. 3 dual-threat quarterback in the country, Kellen Mond, commits to Texas A&M.
The Texas A&M recruiting class received a nice jolt of momentum on Monday evening with the commitment of four-star dual-threat quarterback Kellen Mond.
Mond (Bradenton FL. IMG Academy) is the nation’s No. 78 overall recruit, No. 3 dual-threat quarterback and the No. 7 recruit in the state of Florida, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
Kevin Sumlin and the Aggies haven’t had much trouble getting high school recruits to commit to the program. He has had trouble keeping them committed to the program, however. After losing former five-star signees Kyla Allen and Kyler Murray to transfers at the end of last season, the Aggies also saw No. 1 dual-threat QB recruit Tate Martell decommit.
Martell has since committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes, but the Aggies found a suitable replacement for Martell in the 6-2.5, 201-pound Mond.

After transferring to IMG Academy in Florida, he will be surrounded by some of the top high school talent in the country which should help him develop even more before he leaves for College Station next year.
Last year’s starting quarterback for IMG Academy was Shea Patterson who was the top quarterback in the class and signed with the Ole Miss Rebels. So in a few years, we could see an IMG Academy duel of quarterbacks in SEC West action. Mond is also the second IMG recruit to commit to Texas A&M in the last week with four-star linebacker Santino Marchiol giving his verbal last Tuesday.
Mond was previously committed to Baylor in June of 2015 but opened up his recruitment after the scandal at Baylor saw Art Briles lose his job.

The overwhelming reason for Mond’s decision to commit to Texas A&M was apparently his relationship with Sumlin and offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone that made his decision to commit to Texas A&M an easy one over committing to runner-up Auburn.
