Texas Recruiting: 4-star OG Patrick Hudson commits to Longhorns
Another former Baylor signee has committed to play for the Texas Longhorns with four-star guard Patrick Hudson picking Charlie Strong’s team on Wednesday.
In the wake of the Baylor scandal, another former Bear has flipped to Texas. Wednesday, 2016 four-star offensive guard Patrick Hudson (Silsbee, TX) committed to the program. He made the announcement via Twitter and this news was first reported by Chris Hummer of 247Sports.
Hudson is the No. 50 player in the ’16 class, No. 2 offensive guard, and No. 7 player in the state of Texas per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
Hudson was part of the group that was released by Baylor and interim head coach Jim Grobe from their National Letter of Intent last Thursday.
An imposing force at 6-foot-5, 325 pounds, Hudson received seven offers in total. Georgia, Baylor, Arkansas, LSU, Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas A&M all extended offers his way during the recruiting process and he committed to the Bears on National Signing Day.

Hudson was recruited to Texas by special teams coordinator and secondary coach Chris Vaughn and Matt Mattox who doubles as the program’s running game coordinator and offensive line coach.
With this commitment, the Longhorns’ 2016 class boasts 12 four-star commitments and 26 total pledges in the class. The class moves up another notch and currently ranks No. 7 nationally and tops in the Big 12 per the 247Sports Team Rankings.
Texas now has four former Baylor signees as part of their class that has benefitted from the awful events at Baylor.

Hudson will be a tremendous pickup for the Longhorns. His size allows him to get the upper hand on his man rather quickly, and he excels at planting his foot and extending his hands. He should add to the already stellar group of offensive linemen in the class and be able to compete right away.
