Michigan Recruiting: Three-star lineman Joel Hoingford commits to Wolverines

The Michigan recruiting class added another big body with the commitment from three-star offensive lineman Joel Hoingford.

Another day, another commitment for Michigan. Wednesday,  2017 three-star offensive lineman Joel Hoingford (Sugarcreek, OH) committed to the Wolverines. Hoingford announced the news on Twitter earlier in the day and this was first reported by Steve Lorenz of 247Sports.

Hoingford is the No. 431 player in the 2017 class, No. 48 offensive tackle, and the No. 21 player in the state of Ohio per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

A highly recruited prospect, Hoingford received 29 offers, including several from the Big Ten. Illinois, Indiana, Michigan State, Northwestern and Rutgers all extended offers his way in addition to the Wolverines. In the end, he decided he wanted to call Ann Arbor home.

Offensive coordinator Tim Drevno recruited the promising tackle, and it is safe to say Hoingford was well-acquainted with the program. He was first offered by the Wolverines on April 19 and took an unofficial visit to Ann Arbor on June 11. On June 27, it was announced that the program made Hoingford’s final four list and his recruiting process commenced Wednesday with the commitment.

This commitment continues to add to what is a stellar 2017 troop for the Maize and Blue. With 17 total pledges, the class ranks No. 4 nationally and No. 2 in the Big Ten per the 247Sports Team Rankings.

Hoingford gives Michigan a physical offensive lineman who is not afraid to finish his blocks. He will be a tremendous asset particularly in the trenches as he can use that physicality to his advantage.
