If there’s a conference that could be left out of the four-team College Football Playoff, it very well could be the Pac-12. That’s a terrible thing to imagine for Pac-12 football fans after the Stanford Cardinal were left out last year, but if there’s not an undefeated or one-loss champion, it will happen again.
Hopefully, that won’t be the case this year because the college football world needs to see Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey on the game’s biggest stage. Last year’s Heisman runner-up leads the Cardinal who are the betting favorite to repeat as conference champs, according to the latest odds by Bovada.
Stanford is getting 3/1 odds while the UCLA Bruins are second with 7/2 odds and Washington Huskies are third with 7/2 odds.
The Oregon Ducks come in tied with the USC Trojans with the fourth best odds at 11/2. Both teams are the preseason darlings to win their divisions but they are the clear underdogs in the North and South Divisions, respectively this year.
The parity in the Pac-12 doesn’t leave a lot of separation in the middle class with the Utah Utes getting 12/1 odds, Washington State Cougars getting 14/1, Arizona Wildcats and Arizona State Sun Devils getting 20/1 odds and the California Golden Bears getting 22/1 odds.
