Georgia picked up the commitment of four-star running back Toneil Carter as Kirby Smart continues to clean up on the recruiting trail.

Georgia continued their tradition of landing talented running backs as 2017 four-star running back Toneil Carter (Langham Creek, Houston TX) committed to the program. He made the announcement via Twitter and this news was confirmed by Kipp Adams of 247Sports.

Carter is the No. 107 player in the ’17 class, No. 5 running back, and the No. 16 player in the state of Texas per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Amassing 18 offers in total, he was a highly valued running back. He was recruited to Georgia by running backs coach Dell McGee and assistant defensive coach Glenn Schumann.

On the Bulldog front, they extended him an offer on February 26, 2015, and with the offer in the bag, he continued to take visits to other programs. However, Georgia always remained in the picture and he took an unofficial visit to Athens on March 17.

Later that month, he took a visit to Texas A&M and would do so again on April 1 for their Friday Night Lights event. However, the Bulldogs got the last word Sunday as Carter decided to join the new regime under first-year head coach Kirby Smart.

With this commitment, the 2017 ‘Dawg troop has 14 total commitments with 11 of them being four-star prospects. That is good for No. 3 nationally and No. 2 in the SEC per the 247Sports Team Rankings.

Carter is a slippery back who is very difficult to bring down. It is his physicality, not his speed that is his greatest asset. He can take a hit from a defender and bruise his way past contact in order to keep running. He follows his blockers very well and will do whatever it takes to reach the end zone.
