LSU Recruiting: 4-star safety Grant Delpit commits to Tigers

The LSU Tigers recruiting class added the commitment from four-star safety Grant Delpit.

The LSU Tigers picked up a big commitment Saturday as they landed a pledge from 2017 four-star safety Grant Delpit (Bradenton, FL. IMG Academy.) He made the announcement on Twitter earlier in the day and this news was first reported by Shea Dixon of 247Sports.

Delpit is the No. 92 player in the 2017 class, No. 9 safety, and the No. 20 player in the state of Florida per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

He was one of the most sought-after safeties in the country, amassing 30 offers in total.

He was recruited to the Tigers by Bradley Dale Peveto who doubles as the program’s Special Teams and Safeties Coach and Secondary Coach Corey Raymond.

On the LSU front, he was offered by the program February 12 and that same month, he attended their Junior Day. In April, he took an unofficial visit, and then his recruitment took a major step forward as on June 14, he announced that he would make his pledge at The Opening. He did just that announcing his intentions to become a Tiger Saturday.

With this commitment, the 2017 LSU c;ass has 15 pledges in total, including seven of the four-star variety, the class comes in at No. 5 nationally and No. 3 in the SEC per the 247Sports Team Rankings.

Delpit is the classic ball-hawking safety. He does a nice job of reading quarterbacks and following his eyes to the football in order to make a play. LSU has had success at the cornerback position in recent years and Delpit would continue that trend.
