Golden State Warriors All-Star forward Draymond Green was arrested for allegedly assaulting a Michigan State Spartans defensive back.

Draymond Green was arrested in East Lansing, Michigan for assault on Sunday. The Golden State Warriors forward and a member of the United States Olympic basketball team was in the town where he starred for Tom Izzo’s Michigan State teams when he couldn’t stomach the taunting he was receiving from a person at a nightclub.

Once you get over the initial shock of Green getting arrested, more details began to flood in and the person he slapped was reported to be a Michigan State football player named Jermaine Edmondson, according to mlive reporter Tony Garcia.

Edmondson is a native of Canton, Ohio who as one could imagine is a fan of LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers so he was probably laying it on a little too thick about Green’s Warriors team losing to LeBron in the NBA Finals after holding a 3-1 series lead.

Granted, that’s just an assumption, but I think it’s a fair one considering what we know about the incident that resulted in Green getting arrested at 2:28 a.m. on July 10. He is scheduled to be arraigned within the next 10 days.

Green, a native of Saginaw, Michigan is the Spartans career leader in rebounds and was a consensus All-American in 2012.

As for Edmondson, it’s not really a good look to taunt one of the most successful athletes to come out of Michigan State. Sure, Green got arrested for what is being described as a light slap, but it’s not like Edmondson comes out of this looking like a saint. No, he didn’t do anything illegal in taunting Green, but it was definitely in poor taste to tease a person he should treat with respect.

We’ll just chalk this one up to two guys going too far on a Sunday night at a club and letting their emotions get the better of them. Thankfully, neither of the two were seriously injured and it sounds like Edmondson won’t be pressing charges, so this will all just go away.

Well, until LeBron or any other NBA player taunts Green next season.
