The Iowa recruiting class added the commitment from four-star cornerback Chevin Calloway.

The Iowa Hawkeyes picked up a big commitment Monday from 2017 four-star cornerback Chevin Calloway (Bishop Dunne. Dallas TX.) He made the announcement via Twitter and this news was confirmed by Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports.

Calloway is the No. 103 player in the ’17 class, No. 11 cornerback, and the No. 15 player in the state of Texas per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Receiving 32 offers in total, Calloway was on the radar of coaches all across the country. He was recruited to Iowa by Linebackers Coach LeVar Woods.

On the Hawkeye front, he received an offer from the program on June 3, 2015. No major activity occurred with the Hawkeyes until Monday when he announced his commitment to the program.

Throughout the recruiting process, he continued to gain significant interest from the Texas Longhorns, and many thought he would stay home. The program extended an offer to him before the Hawkeyes, doing so on May 16, 2015, and he took two unofficial visits to the campus on April 16 and June 8 of this year, but in the end, he decided Iowa was the place for him.

With this commitment, the 2017 Iowa class continues to grow. Headlined by five-star defensive end A.J. Epenesa (Edwardsville, IL), the class has 15 total commitments, good enough for No. 15 nationally and No. 3 in the Big Ten per the 247Sports Team Rankings.

Calloway possesses tremendous closing speed and although he is not the biggest at 5-foot-10, 180 pounds, he can deliver the big hit. He will bring a physical edge to the Iowa secondary and his style of play should provide a spark.
