SEC Media Days: Alabama picked to win SEC over Tennessee
SEC Media Days came to a close with the media’s picks revealed and the defending champion Alabama Crimson Tide are picked to repeat as conference champions.
It would appear the media gathered at the four-day circus known as SEC Media Days learned their lesson from last year when the Auburn Tigers were picked to win the SEC. Auburn ended up finishing in last place in the SEC West while the Alabama Crimson Tide won the conference after beating the Florida Gators in the SEC Championship Game.
This year, the media went with the chalk pick and tabbed Alabama as the pick to win the SEC. Only five times has the media correctly picked the conference champion and only just three times in the last 20 years. Despite history not being on their side, it’s tough to knock the defending national champions as long as Nick Saban is the team’s coach.
The Tennessee Volunteers look ready to breakthrough after Butch Jones rebuilt the roster and they were the media’s pick to come out on top in the East and setting up a rematch with the Tide in Atlanta for the SEC Championship Game.
Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Missouri and South Carolina are picked in order to finish behind Tennessee in the East.
In the West, LSU, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Auburn and Mississippi State is the predicted order of finish from the SEC media.
