The leader of the Ole Miss Rebel’s offense was in Hoover to take part in SEC Media Days on Thursday and provided much for the media in the team’s preparation for the upcoming season.
Kelly, however, provided one “controversial” moment when he was asked about playing this year’s LSU game in Baton Rogue. Kelly described going to play at LSU as going to :”the real Death Valley.” This is of course meant to be a jab at his former team, Clemson.
Here is video of the statement:
While Kelly’s comments seem to be light-hearted and rather non-problematic, Kelly most likely would like nothing more than to have the chance to play Clemson this year in the College Football Playoff to get back at the Tigers and Dabo Swinney for his dismissal from the program in 2014.

Kelly’s time at Clemson ended abruptly in 2014 after he got into a heated argument with coaches at the Clemson spring game.
Kelly then transferred to East Mississippi Community College, where he won an NJCAA National Championship. Kelly then committed to and signed with Ole Miss with the 2015 signing class.
Make no mistake, Kelly has matured and become a different person under guidance from Ole Miss Head Coach Hugh Freeze. A month after Kelly had signed with Ole Miss came the incident in Buffalo, New York, where it seemed that Kelly might have blown his final shot at becoming a starter for a major conference team in college football.

Freeze decided to keep Kelly, with stipulations, and the rest is history for the Rebels. Kelly is the top returning SEC quarterback and in the top 3 in the nation after throwing for 4,042 yards and 31 touchdowns in 2015. This offseason Kelly has been named to many different award watch lists such as the Maxwell and the Davey O’Brien awards; Kelly is also seen as one of the top NFL prospects for the 2017 NFL draft.
