The Ohio State Buckeyes are the pick of the Big Ten media to win the conference this year.

The Michigan Wolverines may be the most popular pick to win the national title, but their rivals, the Ohio State Buckeyes are the most popular pick to win the Big Ten this year.

Big Ten Media Days is underway and Urban Meyer’s team is once again the team to beat in the eyes of the media despite losing a number of starters to the NFL, including Joey Bosa, Ezekiel Elliott, Darron Lee, Eli Apple and Taylor Decker who went in the first round.

However, J.T. Barrett returns under center and linebacker Raekwon McMillan is poised to lead a hungry defense of former four and five-star recruits.

The Buckeyes received 27 of the 39 possible votes to win the Big Ten Championship Game. The Michigan Wolverines received 11 votes and the Iowa Hawkeyes received the other vote.

East

1. Ohio State Buckeyes

2. Michigan Wolverines

3. Michigan State Spartans

4. Penn State Nittany Lions

5. Indiana Hoosiers

6. Maryland Terrapins

7. Rutgers Scarlet Knights

Kirk Ferentz’ Hawkeyes won the West last year and are the overwhelming favorite to repeat with 32 of 39 votes from the media. Nebraska (3), Wisconsin (2), Northwestern (1) and Minnesota (1) also received votes.

West

1. Iowa Hawkeyes

2. Nebraska Cornhuskers

3. Wisconsin Badgers

4. Northwestern Wildcats

5. Minnesota Golden Gophers

6. Illinois Fighting Illini

7. Purdue Boilermakers

The Big Ten West looks like it’ll be a one-horse race this season unless something crazy happens at Iowa with a number of injuries to bring them back to the pack. I expect them to be back in the Big Ten Championship Game.

As for the East, it’s all going to come down to The Game at the end of the regular season with the Wolverines traveling to Columbus to take on the Buckeyes in the Shoe for one of the most anticipated college football games of the 2016 season.
