Ohio State Football: 4-star CB Amir Riep commits to Buckeyes
Top Ohio State target Amir Riep, a four-star cornerback, has committed to the Buckeyes over Michigan State.
Ohio State Football got some positive news on Friday night during their annual FNL camp for recruits as five-star defensive end Chase Young committed to the Buckeyes, but Saturday also came with carry-over effects from the camp.
As promised, four-star 2017 Cincinnati, Ohio, cornerback prospect Amir Riep made a decision on his college future at 1:00 p.m. ET. He was reportedly down to Michigan State and Ohio State and this Big Ten battle finished in the Buckeyes’ favor.
During a live stream of the announcement, the four-star pulled out an Ohio State hat and declared his allegiance to the Buckeyes, shattering the hopes of Michigan State coaches and fans everywhere.

This stings more for the Spartans than it would have for the Buckeyes had he chose Michigan State because Riep would have been the highest-rated recruit in Mark Dantonio’s 2017 class and he’s only Urban Meyer’s 11th-best prospect and second or third-best cornerback.
Riep is ranked No. 117 overall in the class and the No. 14 cornerback, according to 247Sports. The Crystal Ball for him was correct as it read 96 percent in favor of the Buckeyes just before the announcement.
The four-star from Cincinnati will stay home for college ball, joining IMG Academy’s (Bradenton, Fla.) Marcus Williamson and Jacksonville, Fla., native Marcus Wade as the two other four-star cornerbacks in Ohio State’s 2017 recruiting class.

Michigan State will hope to land the next elite recruit in which they are in the running for which, if we are talking about defensive backs, could be Detroit’s own Ambry Thomas — the No. 32 recruit in the nation.
However, July 31, the Spartans will hear the fate of three-star 2017 cornerback Josiah Scott as Michigan State is in his top-four.
