2. More Passes Downfield

Georgia fans were spoiled by the presence of quarterbacks like Matthew Stafford and Aaron Murray, so the last two seasons of sub-par and dink-and-dunk quarterbacks must have been hard to swallow.

More from Georgia Bulldogs

The Bulldogs finished 54th in the nation in yards per pass attempt at only 7.4 yards (even rival Georgia Tech who runs an option offense had a better number), and finished 71st in the nation in long pass plays (10 yards or more).

Whether or not true freshman Jacob Eason is given the starting job at the beginning of the season, there’s no doubt that at some point he’s going to be starting games. When this young gunslinger gets his chance, Kirby Smart needs to test the waters and find out what he’s got.

Eason made some incredible throws in the Georgia’s spring game, and his high school highlight reel is filled with Favre-ish throws. How he does against some college defenses who are truly out to knock him into the dirt has yet to be seen.

But one thing is certain, Georgia needs to find a way to get some receivers running vertical routes and to let Eason (and hey, maybe even Greyson Lambert?) throw the ball on the fly to running targets more than five yards from the line of scrimmage.
