Ohio State recruiting received a big boost in its 2018 class when four-star dual-threat quarterback Emory Jones committed on Friday.

Urban Meyer and Ohio State recruiting have been on a tear recently. The Buckeyes are adding top recruits left and right and have added a five-star commit last month and have two four-star pledges within the last two weeks.

On Saturday, the Buckeyes beat out Big Ten rival Michigan State in the recruitment of four-star cornerback Amir Riep from Ohio. On Friday, the Buckeyes looked at the 2018 class for a potential commitment in four-star dual-threat Emory Jones from Franklin, Georgia.

They got it.

The four-star dual-threat from the 2018 class was deciding between Clemson, Tennessee, Georgia and Ohio State before he picked the Buckeyes in a unique drone reveal via Bleacher Report. Thankfully, this wasn’t one of those long, drawn-out commitment videos.

Jones becomes the second commitment for Ohio State in its 2018 class, joining four-star running back Brian Sneed from Florida. While the class is still on the small side of things, if it is anything like the Buckeyes’ eye-popping 2017 class, Meyer might be close to his second national title since taking over in Columbus.

Ohio State has been killing it on the recruiting trail and Meyer is proving why he’s widely considered a top-two coach in college football. The guy can flat-out recruit and all he does is win.

This might create a bit of a quarterback controversy in 2018, though, as JT Barrett will be gone and guys like Danny Davis, Tate Martell and now Jones will be competing for a starting job — that’s a good problem to have, though.

Ohio State’s newest commit is ranked No. 34 overall in the class and is the third-best dual-threat quarterback, according to the 247Sports‘ composite.
