The Air Force Falcons had a successful 2015 season and have the potential to reach even bigger feats.

On Friday, November 20, the Air Force football team walked out of Albertson’s Stadium in Boise, Idaho with its second consecutive win over the Boise State Broncos. Before those wins, Air Force had never previously beaten the Broncos.

Now the Falcons are primed for another big season and will seek a third consecutive win over Boise State.

Head coach Troy Calhoun thinks Air Force actually has a lot of rebuilding to do. Perhaps it’s the unapparent truth, or perhaps he’s pulling a bluff to keep the attention away from his program and get his players to play with a chip on their shoulders.

Perhaps depth isn’t great across the board, or perhaps there are a few glaring weaknesses coach Calhoun can see; however, for me, Air Force at least makes the case to be well in the discussion for winning the Mountain West Conference Championship, whether he wants the hype or not.

Boise State and San Diego State will again be serious contenders in their respective Mountain West Divisions, but Air Force deserves to be right there next to them.

With Navy likely to enjoy less success than last year, and an Army team that is struggling to reach a bowl game, Air Force should have the top record among the service academies. But Air Force should do very well in the Mountain West Conference as well.

Here are the three reasons that the Falcons are contenders for the Mountain West title.
