Washington Huskies’ quarterback Jake Browning hasn’t gotten a lot of press. Washington State’s Luke Falk and his impressive numbers have the attention of the Pac-12.
Jake Browning put together a nice, quiet 2015 season for the Washington Huskies. He didn’t put up flashy numbers or lead them to many huge wins. However, he did set them up for a solid future with him at the helm.

The Huskies finished the season 7-6 and won their bowl game 44-31 over Southern Mississippi. A mediocre season for most teams, but not for a young team with a freshman starting at quarterback. The Huskies return 15 starters and a promising young quarterback, but their rivals at Washington State are the darlings of the media because of Mike Leach’s air-it-out approach that sees Luke Falk put up gaudy numbers.
Browning may have a better team, but Falk gets the praise, putting the Huskies signal-caller in a tough position. No matter how many yards and touchdowns he puts up, it won’t come close to Falk’s production.
As a true freshman, Browning threw for 2,955 yards and 16 touchdowns to 10 interceptions. Solid numbers, especially for a true freshman but Falk, led college football in completions and attempts. He completed 447-of- 644 passes for 4,561 yards, 38 touchdowns and just eight interceptions.
These numbers dwarf Browning’s who remains one of the best-kept secrets in college football, but that could be changing in 2016 with the Huskies poised to contend for the Pac-12 championship.
The former four-star recruit knows how to produce and win from his high school days. In his three years leading his high school, they went 44-2. This is a young team, led by a great head coach in Chris Peterson who can mold his talented young quarterback into the next great passer in the conference. His system isn’t conducive to putting up numbers like Falk or the next Washington State quarterback, but that doesn’t matter as long as the Huskies win.
