Leonard Fournette, Deshaun Watson, Christian McCaffrey and the 50 best college football players, ranked for the 2016 season.

Is it just me or has this summer felt longer than most already? We are now into the month of August and just weeks away from the start of college football, but the offseason has felt longer than ever before. It probably feels the same each year because college football might just be the most exciting sport out there.

Fans of the sport know just how grueling an offseason of waiting, anticipating and speculating can be. The second the season kicks off, it seems to fly by and we are stuck playing the waiting game once again.

With a few weeks left until we finally see live action on the gridiron at a campus near you, it’s time to look at who the top players in college football are heading into the 2016 season.

No, this isn’t a Heisman candidates list, although many of the guys who are on this list could contend for the coveted trophy, but rather a ranking of the top 50 players in college football heading into the season. That means offensive linemen, defensive linemen, defensive backs, receivers, running backs, quarterbacks and also linebackers will be named on the list.

If we were talking about Heisman contenders, the positions involved would likely be narrowed to quarterback, running back and maybe wide receiver.

Let’s take a look at who I believe are the top 50 players in college football heading into the 2016 season. Disagree with any of my rankings or think I missed someone? Let me know in the comment section below.
