Ranking the 50 best college football players for 2016
There’s going to be a new feel to the Texas A&M offense in 2016, and it’s not going to be the receiving corps which return a ton of talent. Rather, the quarterback situation is much less secure than it was over the last couple of seasons. Quarterbacks have transferred in and out and former Oklahoma gunslinger Trevor Knight looks to be the starter.
Whether that’s good news for Christian Kirk remains to be seen, but the Freshman All-American and First-Team All-SEC selection put up some ridiculous numbers in 2015 — it may not matter who passes him the ball.
Kirk had a record-setting freshman season for the Aggies last year, catching 80 passes for 1,009 yards and seven touchdowns. While he was one of the best receivers in the SEC, he was also an electric punt returner, returning 14 for 341 yards and two touchdowns. He also returned 22 kickoffs for 385 yards.
If you’re looking for a dynamic player who could eventually contend for the Heisman before his career is over, Kirk is your guy.
The sophomore receiver is speedy, shifty and surprisingly strong for his 5-foot-11 frame and he could wind up winning the SEC Receiver of the Year award in 2016. This kid can flat-out play and it’s scary to think what another year of experience can do for him.
