Ranking the 50 best college football players for 2016
When you think of Alabama football, you picture one of the toughest teams in the country with an elite defense. The Crimson Tide consistently nab the nation’s top recruits on both sides of the ball and sophomore cornerback Marlon Humphrey could be the next big star to pass through the program on his way to the NFL.
As a freshman, the talented former five-star prospect stood out in the best possible way. He played in every one of the team’s 15 games, recording 45 total tackles, 4.8 for loss, eight pass deflections and three interceptions.
The transition from high school to the SEC is a gigantic one, but Humphrey made it look so smooth that he already seemed like a seasoned veteran for the Crimson Tide as a redshirt freshman. When you learn the system as a redshirt, it must come a little easier when playing time finally comes.
The 6-foot-1 Alabama-native showed just how cool he was under pressure at cornerback by making huge plays in both the SEC title game against Florida as well as in the College Football Playoff against Michigan State and Clemson.
Making the Freshman All-SEC team is a great honor, but you better believe Humphrey is aiming for the All-American team this season, and he has a great chance to make it.
